Human trafficking occurs when a person is forced into performing a highly exploitive act against their will for the financial gain of another person. It occurs around the world when girls, some as young as 5, are bought, sold and forced into prostitution for the profit of her abuser. It is also known as modern day slavery, and it is not just an international problem; it's a problem here in Ohio. The FBI has identified Toledo one of the top recruiting locations for underage prostitutes and there are currently an estimated 1000 minors who have been trafficked in Ohio. Trafficking is a tragic violation of the right to life and work has begun to reach out and help these victims right here in Columbus.

Gracehaven, founded in 2008 by concerned leaders, is a Christian non-profit organization working in Ohio to raise awareness about human trafficking. Gracehaven also hopes to provide shelter to victims of this abuse. They are raising funds to open a house northwest of Columbus this fall. To learn more about their organization and the life-saving work that they do, please visit www.gracehavenhouse.org. We look forward to partnering with groups like Gracehaven more in the future.
